The Manship’s Executive Chef, Alex Eaton, was awarded the King of Mississippi Seafood crown.

The Mississippi Seafood Cookoff is a regional qualifier for the nation’s most prestigious seafood competition, and Eaton’s win on May 26th will send him to the national Great American Seafood Cook-Off in New Orleans, Louisiana in August.

Eaton was given a 50-minute cooking period in which he cooked Snapper collar with Gulf shrimp and crap, roasted fennel, pickled ramps, and lemon garlic broth. The flavorful and beautifully-presented dish was a 1st place winner to judges Susan Benton of 30Aeats (Pensacola, FL), Steve D’Angelo of Chefter.com (Atlanta, GA), Jay Ducote of BiteandBooze.com (Baton Rouge, LA, Mary Foreman of DeepSouthDish.com (Biloxi, MS), and Tony Matassa of Shopper’s Choice (Baton Rouge, LA).
